Yokosuka Tenku is a traditional Japanese kominka
built in 1933.
This historic house is now used as a vacation rental
and a place where people can experience Japanese living.
The goal was not to completely renovate the house,
but to preserve its atmosphere while making it
comfortable and welcoming for modern life.
横須賀天空は、
昭和8年に建てられた古民家です。
現在は民泊としてだけでなく、
日本の暮らしを体験できる場所として
活用されています。
大きく作り替えるのではなく、
古民家の魅力を活かしながら、
今の暮らしに合う形で整えています。
日本の暮らしの美しさを感じる落ち着いた和室空間。

Role
For this project, I focused on creating a space
where people can experience traditional Japanese living.
Instead of large renovations,
the goal was to preserve the original atmosphere
while organizing the space so that it works comfortably
for modern life and guests.

大きく作り替えるのではなく、
古民家の魅力を活かしながら、
現代の暮らしや宿泊に合う形で
空間を整えています。
空き家からの変化
Many traditional homes in Japan
are left unused as lifestyles change.
Instead of leaving the house empty,
this project explores how a traditional home
can become a place where people gather again.
日本では、
暮らし方の変化により
使われなくなった家が増えています。
このプロジェクトでは、
空き家として残すのではなく、
人が集まり、時間を共有できる場所として
古民家を活かす可能性を探っています。
